February 2016 Beer of the Month

Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout

sam smith chocolateBrewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard water is drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic chocolate malt and real organic cocoa used in this ale impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish – this is the perfect marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.

Wells – Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale

Rich full flavoured beer with a deep warm copper colour, Wells Sticky Toffee Pudding has all the warmth, aromas and appeal of the rich pudding from England. Brewed with our trusted best pale ale malt and a secret blend of complex sugars and molasses, initial sweetness is tempered by a gentle bitterness from two of England’s most traditional aroma hop varieties – Fuggles and Goldings. It has a sweet taste of caramel and toffee along a smooth and robust aftertaste. As with all puddings, this beer offers full contentment in a glass.

Boont Amber Ale – Anderson Valley Brewing Company

Balance is what makes our Boont Amber Ale so unique: rich, crystal malts give this beer a deep copper hue and contribute a slight caramel sweetness while the herbal, spicy bitterness from carefully selected whole-cone hops impart a crisp, clean finish. Hints of sun toasted grain, toffee, and fruity esters compliment the mellow, noble hop aroma.

Fernie Brewing Co. Java the Hut

The popular and local Crowsnest Coffee Roasters, supplies our blend of coffee beans for this new FBC brew. They are added to the mash, along with a decadent amount of chocolate, Black Prinz and Roasted Malts. Add some milk sugar, and you get a stout with amazing flavours and dreamy smoothness. 40 IBU

Grizzly Paw Brewing – Beaver Tail Raspberry Ale

beer-raspberry-packA light, unfiltered wheat ale with raspberries, this is a refreshing balanced beer. The combination of tartness and sweetness derived from the raspberries create a light, crisp, yet fruity palate. The rich golden colour is a combination of specialty malts and real raspberries added to the beer. The haze is a result of the yeast still lingering in suspension. An enduring favourite, this is a pleasant beer that is enjoyable either on the patio or after skiing.
